'Come on, Merlin. The sun will have risen by the time you get up these godforsaken stairs.'
'I still don't get get why you woke me up- at midnight - all to drag me up the steepest set of stairs in this castle.'
'Aw does Merlin need his beauty sleep?' Arthur teased.
To this Merlin didn't reply, instead chosing to kick the back of his legs.
'I'm your King, you can't treat me like this.'
'Fire me then.'
Arthur was silent.
'Hm, thought so. You couldn't last a day without me.' Merlin laughed.
By now, they had reached the top of the stairs, where the corridor led to a small wooden door with no outer lock.
'Well, open it then.'
Merlin made a show of painstakingly slowly turning the handle and opening the door.
The door opened into a small closet sized space that was unremarkable in every way but one. The view.
Merlin was awestruck.
'Arthur, its beautiful, I can't thank you enough for showing me.' He was speechless, didn't dare take his eyes of the startlingly full moon.
'Its nothing, I just knew you had spoken about missing seeing the full moon like you did in Ealdor.'
'Thank you, I appreciate it.'
For a moment, Arthur thought he was going to say something else, but then he turned back to face the window, and look back at the moon.
Thats how they stayed until morning, Merlin looking at the moon, Arthur looking at Merlin.
